I am looking to start an online business that is a replicate of what a friend of mine has produced but in another market. The businesses would essentially be identical (with different domain names) but our target market is different so we would not compete.
I contacted him about meeting so he could clear up a few things for me about his suppliers, how he started, things he might have done differently etc… Going into this I knew that in order to get some of this information, I expected him to charge for it. His offer was that for every product I sell, he gets $5 and in turn he will tell me everything I need to know about getting started. We will have products ranging from $40-100. Is this a fair deal, or is there a better means for me to compensate him for giving me this information?
