After Internet entrepreneurs have created their business idea, made a professional web site and attracted some clients, they will then invest most of their time marketing their business. This will involve optimizing your web site and ensuring that each page has a unique title tag. This will jump your page listing but it will not get you to the top ten spaces. This can only be done through increasing your site’s popularity within your niche. This is perhaps the most time consuming step in marketing your Internet business.

A search engine will judge your popularity by the number of websites that link to your site. The more popular the site that links to you the more likely it will be for your site to jump page listings. In order to build your links you should register in online directories in your niche area.

You should also create press releases and other public relations documents and supply it to online news outlets, professional bloggers (with popular blogs) as well as your local print outlets (who will invariably have an online edition that will link to your site).

As tempting as it may be to send mass emails about your new Internet business, remember that search engines are cleverer than ever and if they determine you are a spammer you will immediately drop in page listings.
